When Sustainable Development Meets Transformative Hope

There’s something powerful that happens when a company’s mission aligns perfectly with the communities they’re trying to reach. For the second year running, Arthaland Corporation has stepped forward as Co-Presenter of our Manila Banquet, and their commitment goes far deeper than sponsorship dollars.

Last year, after our banquet raised critical funds for ultra-poor families across the Philippines, something remarkable happened. Oliver Chan, Arthaland’s Senior Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer, didn’t just write a check and move on. He and his team actually visited one of our Transform communities to see the work firsthand.

“What we witnessed changed our perspective entirely,” Oliver shared with us recently. “We saw how addressing extreme poverty isn’t just about charity—it’s fundamental to sustainable development. You can’t build truly sustainable communities while families are struggling to survive.”

This year’s “Hope Shines Through” theme resonates deeply with Arthaland’s approach to development. As the Philippines’ only real estate developer with a 100% sustainable portfolio, they understand that building for the future means investing in the people who will inhabit that future.

The connection makes perfect sense when you think about it. ICM’s Transform program works through HOPE—Heart, Opportunity, Physical, and Education—to lift families out of ultra-poverty permanently. Arthaland builds sustainable spaces where communities can thrive for generations. Both approaches require long-term thinking, environmental consciousness, and genuine care for Filipino families.

On September 24th at Shangri-La The Fort, we’ll gather once again to raise funds that will transform lives across 12 regions of the Philippines. With over 2 million Filipinos already touched by ICM’s work, every peso raised brings us closer to our vision of a Philippines free from ultra-poverty.

Arthaland’s continued partnership as Co-Presenter demonstrates that businesses can be powerful forces for social change when they align their values with their actions.

“We’re not just developing properties,” Oliver told us. “We’re developing hope. And that’s exactly what ICM does in communities we could never reach on our own.”

The impact of partnerships like this extends far beyond one evening of fundraising. It creates a ripple effect where sustainable business practices meet grassroots transformation, where corporate social responsibility becomes genuine community investment.

As we prepare for our 4th Manila Banquet, we’re reminded that hope truly does shine through when businesses and nonprofits unite around a shared vision of a better Philippines for all.
